Trauma’s Hues

Vision is slammed vivid red,

pure white pain pounds

this space fills with the cacophony

of one angry barking voice

Vitriol, hatred, abuse

pummels body tissue

and eardrums,

splits lips and families

Inflamed red spreads to blue edges,

wounded life with scarred spirit.

Days ache by and

bruised blue contorts to puce

Frightened edges twitch,

threat hovers at conscious perimeter,

contusions grimace to green

and throb to brownish yellow

Trauma convulses in its expiration,

the violent shades of abuse,

blacken eyes and daub disfigurement,

all darken suburbia
