Late Afternoon

Sun intoxicates,

tall grasses dance to the breeze’s beat,

white moths flit erratic paths,

unseen birds sing merrily,

cicadas’ percussion

overlays all other sound

Absence of human noise

unwinds the tangles

In this space,

at this moment

breeze bends, cicadas thrum, birds chitter

calm
