Dinner’s Debris

Still Life with Purro I, 1904 by Henri Matisse

Sunday lunch

served in sunshine

Friends roll words

like peas on the plate

lift and swallow

Wine droplets

oll down glass bulbs

stain conversation

Cutlery percussion

beats the rhythm

of the dialogue

Once sated,

dishes discarded,

ennui settles

Dinner’s detritus

stills life
