Life’s Lines

From conception,

the weave of our canvas,

the paints of our landscape

begin our markings

Words, actions,

that which is observed,

bequeaths their tints and lines,

The days brush in colour and form,

layer upon layer

to develop substance,

the rich grain of a life

Strokes define,

contours determined

One tracks into the other,

added colour furnishes shapes

The canvas fills

with the structure

of who we are

  1. Moira, “Life’s Lines” is an amazing poem. You have written it so tightly around the photograph, I love that. “Words, actions, that which is observed, bequeaths their tints and lines,” This is very strong and I really love what you have done here.
