In deference to Leonard Cohen
Like a word in a poem
Like a seed that’s be sown
I have cried tears for thee
Like a leaf from a book
Like the small child’s look
To thee, I give all my imagery
If I, If I have been cruel
I hope you see through
Forbear and forgive all my flaws
Give me time, please take a pause
For like a friend who only hurts
Like a fiend who only perverts
I have subvert all that is good for me
But I swear by these words
And by all that I deserve
I will make it up to thee
I saw a drifter on life’s road
She asked, “Can I help you with your load?’
And a bird on the wing did soar
With so little when I want more
Like a word in a poem
Like a seed that’s be sown
I have cried tears for thee
