Summer Storm

A rain cell

Swirls out of the tropics

Across the continent,

drenching this arid landscape

Cascading waterfalls

form and rush

down massive rock faces

Vertical rivers

from the rock catchment,

striate red Uluru

Low cloud and mist rising

blur the soaked scene

Water races across the red soil,

permeates the top soil,

spreads across the landscape

and carries the promise

of spectacular plant life

in  forthcoming weeks
