In Sights

Rebecca Bramwell, runner-up. Graffiti, fishing harbour, Essaouira, Morocco. PAUL GOLDSTEIN, JUDGE: I barely looked at this, irritated by the dirty sensor and unbalanced horizon. Then I looked again: humorous and not arrived at by co-incidence. Should it make me smile? Yes. And it does, as the juvenile gull plays its part in a gloriously animated cameo.

Juvenile gull contemplates

the innocence of day,

blue sky and beach beauty,

Unaware of artistic danger

lurking below

Fixated feline envisages,

sleek and sly salivates

the succulence of flesh

The comic countenance

of inventive art
